Pregnancy Hormones - The Science and the Symptoms
We've all heard people talk about hormones during pregnancy. Usually in the same sentence as mood swings, bloating, and blemishes. But hormones in pregnancy are more than just an annoying side effect of growing a baby - they are the incredible chemicals that are doing the work!
Hormones are simply the chemicals in your body which send messages and tell it what to do. Not only do they control the reproductive system, they are behind almost all of your other bodily functions, as well.
Pregnancy hormones levels are higher than at any other time in your life, including puberty. Every change and development in your baby and every pregnancy symptom you experience is a direct result of these hormones. So, next time someone says, "she's just hormonal", count it as a good thing!
