Review of Bra Extender
Many lucky women experience a sudden increase in bust size in the first trimester of pregnancy (it’s a great feeling – you haven’t started to show yet but you’ve suddenly got a cleavage like Pamela Anderson!). A bra extender can be your secret weapon to make your favorite bras go the extra mile without damaging them. It’s also much cheaper than buying a maternity bra too early before you know what your breast size will be. And it’s definitely more comfortable than simply trying to make do and stretch your bra around your back.
Today, we take a look at the features of one of America’s most popular bra extenders and welcome our fabulous guest reviewer, Catherine Potter. Enjoy!

My breasts seemed to double in size within the first six weeks of my pregnancy. I wasn’t ready to splash out on maternity bras but my pre-pregnancy bras were getting seriously uncomfortable. Also, I’m really fussy about my lingerie and didn’t want to stretch and destroy my bras. I was really happy when I found these sturdy little bra extenders in packs of three – one for each of the most common bra colors.
Lots of women try to go extra cheap and make a DIY bra extender from hair elastics. I think this is a terrible idea for three reasons:
- Elastic is uncomfortable and leaves painful marks on the skin of your back.
- A homemade bra band extender is likely to stretch and contort the hooks on your bra, defeating the purpose of using one.
- The sudden snap of your hair band bra extender giving way could be exceedingly embarrassing!
I really love this simple and practical bra strap extender from Fashion First Aid. Its soft microfiber construction means that you can’t feel it at all and it will fit pretty much any 2 hook bra. I definitely recommend it to any woman who experiences early breast growth in her pregnancy and wants her fave bras to last a little longer. It gets a five-star rating from me.
