Throw a Baby Shower to Remember – 20 Great Baby Shower Games
A range of fun and interactive baby shower games can be the difference between a success and a flop! But how do you come up with games that a diverse group of women will enjoy playing? Luckily, our readers have shared their best baby shower games and we’ve compiled this list of 20 (of course, we don’t recommend playing 20 games at one party – much better to choose five of your favorite and plan for a balance of games and socializing!). Happy planning!

From classic to unique baby shower games – check out the 20 best suggestions from our readers
1. Safety Pins
As each guest arrives, she is given a ribbon necklace with 3 safety pins hanging on it. Have a list of words that are forbidden: “Baby”, “Due Date”, and “Labor” are favorites. Whenever a guest hears another guest say one of the forbidden words, they say “pins” and the guest who said the forbidden word has to hand over one of her pins. At the end of the party, the guest with the most pins is the winner.
2. How big is the Mom-to-Be’s Belly?
This is a really simple but fun baby shower game – each guest is given a ball of ribbon. They have to decide how big they think Mom-to-Be’s belly is and cut a piece of ribbon that would wrap right round. When each guest has cut their ribbon, they wrap it around the Mom’s belly – the person who gets it the closest is the winner. It’s always a laugh seeing who has over-estimated and who has over!
3. Decorating Tee Shirts
Why not get a little crafty with your baby shower games? Buy some fabric pens and enough plain white baby tee shirts or body suits for each guest and spend some time drawing designs on them for when Baby arrives. You can do this one just for fun or make it competitive and have the Mom-to-Be choose her favorite design. You’ll be amazed at how many clothes newborns go through each day and every tee shirt will remind the mother of one of her friends.

4. Baby Shower Bingo
Bingo is a classic baby shower game and a fabulous ice-breaker. As each guest arrives, hand her a card and a stamper. Throughout the shower, each guest tries to complete her card – the first to do so calls “Baby Bingo” and wins a small prize. If you have a creative bent, you can design your own personalized cards, or you can buy them ready-made.

5. What Will Baby Look Like?
This is often one of the most hilarious baby shower games! Give each guest a piece of paper and use magazines to cut out features and make a collage of what the new arrival will look like. Imagine a baby which Michael Jackson’s nose, Katy Perry’s eyes, and Prince William’s hair style!
6. Play-Doh Baby
In this variation of number 5, guests model the new baby in play-doh. Have them name their play-doh models and pop them on the table for everyone to admire. The Mom-to-Be gets to choose her favorite doh-baby.
7. Which Baby is Which?
When you send out the invitations, ask each guest to bring along a photo of themselves as a baby. Collect in the pictures and lay them all out on the table with a number. Each guest gets a piece of paper and needs to work out which baby photo matches which guest. It’s a great ice-breaker when you’ve got lots of women who don’t know each other because the guests need to spend time looking at and talking to each other to work out which photo belongs to who. The person who gets the most baby photos correctly matched is the winner.
8. Pass the Parcel
Becoming a mother is a sort of return to childhood. New mothers find themselves playing games and reading stories they had long forgotten. Why not prepare her by playing childlike and simple baby shower games? Wrap baby shower favors in layer after layer of wrapping paper or newspaper. Play music and have guests pass the parcel around a circle. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel unwraps a layer. The person who unwraps the final layer is the winner of the prize.
9. Diaper Diaries
When the new Mom or Dad is changing diapers late at night, they’ll need a light-hearted moment or two. Buy a bulk box of newborn diapers and hand out marker pens for guests to write a funny note on the front of the diaper (don’t panic – the ink won’t leach through to the inside of the diaper).

10. Baby Name Game
Run a quick icebreaker quiz where guests get a list of cryptic clues and have to work out a baby name to go with each clue. You can either make up your own baby name game or buy in ready made clue cards.

11. Baby Scattegories
Remember the classic game Scattegories – you can create easy baby shower games by putting a spin on it. There are lots of different ways you could do this – have guests come up with a baby name for each letter of the alphabet, or create baby-related categories and then give them each one letter and a time limit to come up with a word to fit the category – your imagination is the limit!
12. Nursery Rhyme Trivial Pursuits
How good is the guests’ knowledge of childhood nursery rhymes? Help remind the mother of all the rhymes and lullabies she’ll soon be singing by running a nursery rhyme trivia quiz. It could be as simple as seeing who can remember all of the words to some of the more obscure nursery rhymes or as complex as a full game of trivial pursuits with pre-written questions, teams, and a scoreboard.
13. Musical Babies
Find a baby-sized doll and use it to play a version of “musical chairs”. Play the music and pass the baby doll from person to person like a hot potato. When the music stops, the person holding the baby is out. The last player left is the champion!
14. Baby Whispers
A variation of the old school-yard game, ‘Chinese Whispers’. Guests sit in a line with the Mom-to-Be at the end of the line. The first person whispers a message for the Mom-to-Be and it is passed in whispers along the line. When the Mom-to-Be finally gets the message, she has to say it out loud. It’s often hilarious how much the message changes from the original on its way down the line!
15. What’s in Your Handbag?
Always a favorite when you’ve got a group of women together! Guests have to empty their purses and, if certain objects on a checklist are present, they get points. You can either make your own handbag challenge checklist or buy in some ready-made cards.

16. Baby Predictions
Mothers spend a huge amount of time daydreaming about what Baby will be like when he or she arrives. And I’m sure many of her friends and family are doing the same. Why not turn these daydreams into a baby shower game? Make (or buy) prediction cards and have guests predict baby’s due date, gender, eye color, weight, and anything else you like. When guests put time and thought into their predictions, these can make a wonderful keepsake for the mother to put in her baby book.

17. Guess the Baby Food
It can be hard to tell what’s in those little jars of baby food. And how often do we actually taste the food we’re giving our babies? Buy a selection of interesting baby food jars, blindfold guests, feed them a spoonful and ask them to name the ingredients and flavors in each jar.
18. Cupcake (or Cookie!) Babies
Another food-themed baby shower game. Why not get your guests to help with the catering? It’ll certainly save you time! Make enough plain cupcakes for each guest to have two or three and put out a selection of frosting flavors and colors and other cake decorating products. Each guest decorates her cupcakes and puts forward her best for judging – you could do it in the style of a reality TV bake-off.
19. Bottle-bobbing
Remember bobbing for apples at Halloween? Whet about bobbing for bottle nipples?!? Float the nipples in buckets of water and have guests catch at many as they can using only their mouths in a set time limit (around 30 seconds is best). The player who catches the most nipples reigns supreme.
20. 10-Pin Bottles
Set up 10 plastic baby bottles bowling alley-style and have guests bowl a ping pong ball and see how many they can knock down. This can be a simple one-off game, or you can pay a full round of 10-pin, keep score, and give out prizes to the best bowlers.
You can buy bulk plastic baby bottles for baby shower games cheaply on Amazon.com.
