What to Expect when You’re 17 Weeks Pregnant
At 17 weeks pregnant, you’re well into the second trimester of pregnancy and the outward signs will well and truly be showing. There’s also a lot going on inside the womb.
Your baby is now around five inches long (the size of your palm!) and weighs around five ounces.
The heartbeat has become much more regular (that clever brain is now taking care of it!). In fact, it’s beating at around twice the rate of yours. It should sound really strong if you have an ultrasound at this stage. The survival reflexes he or she will be born with (like sucking and swallowing) are now almost fully developed.
Common Symptoms at 17 Weeks Pregnant
The uncomfortable symptoms of pregnancy early stages – nausea, mood swings and fatigue – should have finished and your body is now used to being pregnant. Your baby bump is becoming more visible but you’re still small enough to get around (and to sleep!) easily.
Hopefully, you feel more energized and your skin and hair are glowing with health. This is the stage of pregnancy that most women feel at their most contented, comfortable and excited.

Invest in some quality Stretch Mark Cream and use it every day. Your skin is now being pulled much tauter to incorporate your growing uterus and creams can help make it more supple and minimize stretch marks.
Keep up with that pregnant exercise regime. Get some fresh air each day and drink plenty of water! At this stage of your pregnancy, your body and your baby are changing rapidly. They need all the help and support they can get to stay healthy, comfortable and energized.
